What's with Dell RAM pricing???!!!!

Hi all,

I was thinking of getting a Dell XPS 16 laptop, and would like 8GB DDR 3 RAM.

While I was browsing last Sunday lunchtime, it cost €120 to upgrade 4GB to 8GB - bargain!
Then 3 hours later, there was no upgrade option at all.
Then 1 day later, there was a 6GB upgrade, +€500 and an 8GB upgrade €999!!!!!!!

WTF? :eek: What's this RAM made of? Is there an explosion in market prices for DDR3?

It's usually always been cheaper to equip the lowest amount of ram offerred and buy your own from somewhere else.

Thanks guys - I should have pounced on that €120 offer/error!

The best option probably is to go with 4GB, and upgrade in a few years when prices collapse.
A SSD will probably increase performance a lot more than additional 4GB asleep in the case. I like the look and price of the OCZ Vertex range (Wrong forum - sorry)
