True, it is a fantastic fast pace first person shooter(say that three times fast) but doesnt have as big of a player base as it used to : ( still you can always find a game type with players in it on that site! FFA madness!

Same for most pros since most of them make it look like lego land. My config ends up the same way.

Been playing since it started....past several years been so much into the Battlefield series...'42/DC/Vietnam, not BF2 so much....but man, it's great to get back to some fast paced fraggin!

Amazing how they have this running through a browser plugin.

thats because Carmack is God....

Guy can make anything. Hell, Quake 1 still runs on any machine you throw it on, how many other games out there barely work anymore because of Vista/7??

Its not really. They are just using the plugin to download the actual game to your hard drive. So technically its installed and running like any other app you have.
Just the plugin is controlling it.

It's quite a bit smaller, if I'm really really really REALLY bored I'll install Q3 from the CD and compare directory sizes 'n .PAK files....but I'll bet a case of Guinness that the QL is much smaller.

I don't recall the original game playing it inside of my browser.

The game that got me hooked on FPS. Real 3D environment...which up until then the other popular games such as Duke Nukem 2 1/2 D, or Doom..didn't have.

Oh the endless nights playing on the internet via dial up modem until the sun came up.

And then....3Dfx had to go release that VooDoo card...make us spend 300 bucks on it (yeah baby..4 megs of video RAM)...and GLQuake came out. The first time I fired up GLQuake..and stared at the laval balls shooting up and down....my jaw dropped.

I do love Q3 but I wish QuakeLive would of been a Quakeworld remake instead, so much faster...:)
