I need some major help guys...I am kinda freaking out here. I installed PM 8 for the first time and when I went to run the program it froze my desktop and nothing was happening. Even task manager would not open. I decided to just manually reset the PC and now my partition that had ALL of my files and music has disappeared! I am running Vista x64 and I had 2 partitions: C: for my OS and D; for all my files, etc. The D drive is not showing up!! PLEASE HELP!

is the partition showing up in the disk manager utility? What were you doing or attempting to do with Partition Magic?

Also, just a heads up (I'm sure I wont be the only one to say it)... DO NOT use partition magic. There are better solutions out there. Give parted magic a shot

yes under Disk Management it shows my C partition and it also shows what was my D partition but it does not give it a drive letter and it just shows it as being 298GB (I split my 640GB drive into 2 equal partitions) with no other info available.

Can you assign a drive letter to it?

I don't know man... don't know a whole lot about it, so maybe someone else can better help. But you might be SOL

hopefully you have a backup

sounds like the partition table got messed up. I would definitely not assign a drive letter to it as it might want to format or write a new partition table.

What I would do is try some recovery software. A favorite of mine is Get Data Back (http://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-products.htm). The demo will let you see what you can recover, but you have to pay to actually recover it.
You may be able to find some other tools that will do this for free, I think that the Ultimate Boot CD (http://ultimatebootcd.com/) has some recovery tools on it if you're savvy with the command line or willing to learn.
