Hi everyone, i just purchased a older supermicro 1u server. (opteron 146 2gb ram) and im gonna throw a couple 1.5 tb's in there and use it as my media server. This box will be used as a backup (manual once a week), a server for streaming .mkv's to other computers in the house, and as a utorrent download box.

My main concern, is that currently i run utorrent on my main computer, with cfosspeed traffic shaping running on all machines in the house. This allows me to run utorrent at full blast without slowing the connection on other pcs. I was planning on installing WHS on my server and using utorrent over webUI. However i am concerned that i would not be able to utilize cfosspeed on my server due to the fact that WHS is service based and not program based? anyone have any way to get this to work?>

the only thing i could think of would be to use Windows Server 2008 instead of WHS as i know it is supported by CfosSpeed....

any advice is greatly appreciated...

Why aren't you using a router with QoS instead?

I figured out how to set it up using my router, and tested it both with and without cfosspeed, and it still performs better with cfosspeed, so im still not sure what to do to get it running on my soon to be had server

I recommend to go with server 2008. I much prefere it to whs. Just my opinion but i like standard disk management and volume portability.
