View Full Version : Did I screw up with my money on Z2300

I recenlty purchased logitech Z2300 speakers. However I didn't experience any significant difference in the sound quality. Compared to my old Pentium rig which uses Intel 945 chipset and inexpensive Creative 2.1 inspire speakers, the only difference I see is more volume and bass.
I was expecting cryestal clear sound. I guess P5Q Pro has very good onboard sound, so do I have the configure sound settings to fit with my current speakers?

a pair of monitors would have done more good! or a sound card ^^

The Z2300's are not capable of reproducing enough range to allow you to hear the difference between an onboard Realtek ALC1200 (which is pretty good for onboard) and a discreet audio setup. The bass from Logitech subwoofers is pretty boomy and loud, but you'll never be able to distinguish individual notes or nuances, it's all mooshed together.
I noticed this going between the X-220's (pretty much the best speakers Logitech made until the 2300/5500) and an Edifier set. Even though the bass wasn't as loud, it was MUCH clearer and more natural (like the difference between a live performance and radio). They're not bad for gaming at all, just not a good test bed for figuring out the difference between modern onboard and a good quality discreet setup.

2 2.5" drivers just aren't enough to reproduce sound with any semblance of accuracy. Logitech is known as Logicrap around here, and for good reason.
For roughly what you paid, you could have gotten these Swan D1080MKII (http://www.theaudioinsider.com/product_info.php/loudspeakers/swan-active-desktop/p/swan-d1080mkii/cPath/21_24/products_id/113) monitors and been blown away by the quality.
Yes. You failed.
Harsh words.
Although true... :eek::p

Yes, I think you should've gone with something else.
The D1080Mkii are great, but the least driver size I'd go would be 4". 2.5" will just not cut it.
Look at returning/selling the speakers and getting the M-Audio AV40s or the D1080Mkii like suggested above.

Yup, I second the AV 40s, I love my pair. Get the AV 40s if you need more room-filling sound, as they have twice the power of the Swans for exactly the same price (http://www.amazon.com/M-Audio-Studiophile-AV-Powered-Speakers/dp/B000MUXJCO). I'm guessing the Sawns have slightly better bass due to the larger woofer, but probably not that much better.

Thanks for the suggestions. While gaming I feel like I am in some sort of action (still you won't experience the details, take an example, while playing crysis I can even hear the sound of thunder while using HB575 sterio headphone which is not with these speakers).
Its just while playing music and movies I miss the detail, clearity just the loudness and bass.
So can someone suggest me how I can get the best out of my current setup?
Thanks in advance
Is there anyway you can return these speakers? No matter what you do, there is really nothing you can do to make the logitech speakers much better.

I am not sure if they are going to return it. Selling it is the only option.
