Windows 7 on MSDNAA

For you college students out there, my friend informed me that Windows 7 is on MSDNAA and sure enough it was. EDIT: it is build 7000, my error sorry.

Just thought I would inform you all and to those who are interested.

Given that nothing newer than 7000 is on the full MSDN subscriptions, I can say with near certainity that anything claiming to be newer on an MSDNAA site is either illegitamite or lying.

What goes up on the MSDNAA depends on your deans preference. My dean is a huge Mac/Linux guy so I don't expect him to pay much attention to new Microsoft Products.

I hate political correctness.;) If your dean wants his graduates to have the skills to work in the real world, Windows is VERY important part of that mix. Ideology doesn't pay the bills, especially now.

Build 7068 is out now for about a week. A newer 7075 build is on some Pay Torrent sites as well and the free version should follow. The one mentioned above is old and has more issues. Get yourself a Torrent download for at least the 7068 build and see what it has. For me, I will use this build over Vista since it has very few glitches

I had 7068 on this test laptop, two big gripes: the mini player with WMP doesn't function correctly (Pause and Back/Next clicks get picked up as double clicks so it won't Pause properly/Play, and it skips two songs forward and back, tons of people with this issue), and also there's something wrong with the GMA950 drivers in it. The video playback was horrid on my laptop, so bad I couldn't play most of the video files that have worked in all previous builds without issues at all.

Intel supplied a more current driver (dated early March) and things just went awry I suppose, but those two "big" issues and several other minors ones gave me enough reason to go back to 7057 which is as solid as can be on the same hardware.

7075 is BS, as noted on many forums because when it was "leaked" Microsoft was only at 7072 internally, so it would have been a neat trick to release a build that hadn't even been built yet. It's a hack job and best to be avoided...

I just wanted to let you all know (MSDNAA users) Windows 7 RTM is available for download via ELMS as of today. As my school's Administrator, I just enabled it for my site.

FYI It is up to each school's Administrator to enable it. My students get EVERYTHING. It is a learning institution after all!

Thanks for reminding me. Our school has it now, both x86 and x64 Windows 7 Professional, while for the RC, we have Ultimate (but I'm going for the Professional RTM as opposed to the Ultimate RC).
