Hey guys, new guy here, haven't done a thorough look-around yet, but I've got a problem I want to solve as quickly as I can. I put together a computer for myself a few months ago in which the PS literally blew up. I RMA'ed the PS (Antec 1000W) and put the replacement in and the computer worked fine for about 2 weeks, when the video suddenly stopped working. The computer would turn on and post, but no video output whatsoever. I tried a different video card and nothing still. I need two computers anyway, so I started replacing parts until I replaced every single component in the PC except the sound card. Still no video, until I reset the CMOS and bingo, video. Turns out the original video card is also bad, so I don't know what else was effected by the PS explosion. Anyway, the computer as it stands right now is the following:
Antec Twelve Hundred case
Antec 850W PS
DFI LP UT X58-T3eH8 Mobo
Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz CPU
4GB (dual channel) Mushkin DDR3 1600
BFG GeForce GTX 285
WD Velociraptor 300GB HD
SB Fata1ity X-Fi sound card
Now, I was ecstatic when the video finally started working, but now I can't get XP to install. I have tried many times now, and I can format the HD without a problem every time, but during the setup file copying process, it stops at a random point and just sits. I thought maybe it was just hung on a certain file, so I let it go overnight (8 hours) one time and it was at the exact same % completion when I woke up. The HD and CDROM are both brand new, the CD has no scratches whatsoever, and I removed the sound card (only real unnecessary peripheral) to install. I also tried taking out one stick of ram, but that caused me to not get video again, so I put it back in and reset the CMOS again and left it the hell alone. Any ideas of what could be wrong? Thanks in advance!
