ok ... so microsoft is implementing starter to only allow 3 programs at once...
so is going to block spyware apps and trojan apps from running more than 3 at one time? lol
for the ignorant:

furthermore... if spyware can run more than 3 programs... and legit programs cannot... won't be good for windows 7
or if they can get around it... then the same trick can be implemented for legit programs to get through the "3 programs running at once limit"

Starter Edition is NOT AVAILABLE IN DEVELOPED MARKETS. You won't have an opportunity to buy or use it. It's irrelevent.

Thank god. I was dreading the possibility of having to support it.

This thread should be closed and sticked (and perhaps renames).

read this news clip before being a nerd-tool in one:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/03/30/windows-7-starter-edition-to-pave-the-way-for-200-netbooks/
alot of people are betting starter will come to the states, as a way to get netbook users to eventually sign up for a full versoin, or a different western flavor.
regardless... if you think "the rest of the world outside of america" is irrelevant, then your an ignorant person.
so in the end, western or eastern... will it let 50 spyware programs run, but only 3 legit apps? or block and limit good/evil apps to only 3?

Indeed but Vista starter is not avail in the US, EU, etc. From the article, looks like Seven Starter will be available on netbooks.

yep...
so why can microsoft block legit programs at a max of 3... but often allows 10-1000 spyware/viruses/trojans runs instead?

i havnt tested win7 yet... but in the past i have seen 1000+ viruses/trojans/spyware apps on peoples computers.
more common maybe 10-30 ...
as an it tech for 6 years, you see the worst computers. usually started by porn, mp3s or free games.

nice troll attempt
No, you will not see starter, not even on netbooks. Basic maybe. Most likely home. But not starter. It's more of a trial edition. Likely to go for less than $20 and not sold in developed nations.
How many viruses and spyware can a person get on Vista or 7 with UAC on? There are so many security changes that entire classes of viruses no longer run in windows. The only way to get infected is for a person to allow shit through.
I have yet to get a virus or spyware in Vista or 7. And I visit porn and warez sites. No issues.

Don't know who you've met, but most of the people I work with I pretty sharp people in the IT groups I've worked in after the dot com bust. What I found is that the dot com bust did a lot of weeding out. Most companies are not in the habit of paying good salaries to people that can't produce.

how come half the posts end in a nerd fight on [h]?
from people that are testing these limits that i know in beta.... state this "3 cap limit" is crazy... you can launch 3 apps one way, and launch 6 apps another... but if you launch them in the wrong order they wont always launch.

When did either of these happen?
As far as I know, other then the recent builds, all Win7 beta keys were for Ultimate.
