Just did a fresh install with a new board. Sig below for build list. Now I have an issue with only one of my drives (640gb WD). The drive seems to take a second to wake up when I go to access it. I've even opened it and only saw 4 of my folders then a few seconds later hte rest pop up. I've benched the drive and it benches just fine. This drive ran fine in my other machine. Talked to a friend who has a similar problem where this same drive will kinda hesitate when accessing it. Anyone else run into this?
Turn power saving off for the drive if you dont like the delay.

Well windows is setup to put the drives to sleep after 20 min according to the power configuration but thats the only drive I am having issues with. The other two don't do this.
How are you observing this.
Are all the drives powered down when you try to access them?
Or are some powered down and others not?
ie if the Windows drive/partitions are busy enough, it may never/rarely power down.

Whats odd is it just stopped doing it. Ive rebooted and played with it all morning and I can't duplicate the issue. Weird.. I haven't changed anything.
Maybe not giving the drives time enough to power down?

I left it over night. I found the 20min power down for the drives. Is this usually setup like this by default?
I think it is default.
However, if the drives arent powered down, then they are not powered down.
You need to know this, I cant tell you.
Cant put it any simpler, if you want to know the root cause of this, you need to track it down.

I agree.. problem is the issue is gone today for some reason. I know I used a SATA cable I had in a drawer for that drive and I wonder if thats an issue. I will try swapping the cable and trying different ports like the Gsata instead of the intel and see if it changes. Will wait and see if the issue returns.
