Case: Thermaltake Wing MA VI5000BNS, 3 external 5.25 bays, 4 internal 3.5" bays. probably replace the fans with some scythe s-flex?

figured I would update this since I'm bored

Ended up going with modifying my old Apevia X-Alien Case (aka chieftec dragon, chenming etc). cut the top and side to enable 120mm fans (made some ugly cuts but it'll do), will use an adapter to change the rear 80mm x2 to x1 120mm.

front intake still 80mm. Will be using some sound dampening materials

Stayed with 5050e cpu. still debating if I should stay with retail hsf or not...

Mobo: Gigabyte MA78GM-S2H instead, since it was $70 at my local microcenter.

money saved on case ended up going towards purchasing more hdds. (picked up x2 open box EACS 1TBs for $47ish each @ MC)

still gonna use OCZ psu, ocz 2gb sli ram.

got icy dock's 5 in 3, but have a supermicro one coming too courtesy f/s forum here. Intel Pro 2 port NIC also.

WHS courtesy msdn.....will post pic of final build when done.

debating if I should use a 2.5" 7200rpm hitachi 320gb as the OS drive instead...

Well, you seem to have most of your bases covered. That prolly explains the lack of responses. People are very quick to jump on people that seem lost.

How loud is the stock CPU fan. No need to OC a WHS, so the only reason to replace the stock fan is if it is too loud.

For the OS drive, just use whichever one uses less power. They are both plenty fast for your purposes.

For 80mm fans, I like to use temp controlled ones. They work best on exhaust fans though.

Don
