View Full Version : my card reader (2004 era maybe earlier) can't read my 2GB SD card

The 2GB card works fine in the panasonic. It seems to store pictures as we can view stored photos. But when I put the SD card in the card reader, Windows wants to format it.
I pretty sure that when I bought, there were no 2GB SD cards then. maybe it's a limitation on the chipset used in reader?

You just answered your own question...earlier readers can't read anything bigger than 2GB...the same is also true that earlier digital cameras can't use anything bigger than 2GB as well. Anything that can read that size (and/or bigger) will have a label called "HC" (ie: SDHC, etc...) = "High Capacity."
