$174 with free shipping

These are the old 65nm parts though. Also you should not these do not come with the lifetime warranty only a 90 day warranty. eVGA is dead set on the 90 days and will not honor a day more.

Vid cards die a lot, I would spend the extra $5 and get the newer 55nm version with 216 SP too. I would say this is a bad deal.

Where do you see that deal? Evga GTX 260 55nm goes for $229 on newegg right now.

Remember kids, its recertified.

EVGA's warranty policy on recertified products is 90-day only.

this would have been nice with a better warranty

The model at ZZF for 179.99 AR is the 55nm version - link to eVGA's product page (http://www.evga.com/products/moreInfo.asp?pn=896-P3-1255-A1&family=GeForce%20GTX%20200%20Series%20Family)

Tho I am curious as to 1) why only DDR3? and 2) why 449-bit memory bus?

all Nvidia cards use GDDR3 (or GDDR2). They weren't designed with GDDR5. Future cards from them will be. Why 448 bit bus? My guess is that is is cheaper to make than 512 bit yet offers close to its performance. Others could probably explain it better...

What...??

I hate when people use one word replies that mean nothing...??

What I'm trying to say is if you overclock your card, like most people do, then the chances of them failing is pretty high, same with lots of electronics. I'm just trying to say that lifetime warranty is SO MUCH better than 90 day. and the 55nm one's are a better bet I would say. Less power consumption and cooler card. I say this because my EVGA 8800GTS just died and it was a factory overclock, and my XFX 8800GTS also just died too, since it was a XXX version.

there are a few less physical chips, i believe that contributes to the lower bus width.

I hate it when people make broad generalizations without clarifying.

"Video cards die a lot."

I haven't had one die yet, and although many people have, I doubt many would say a "lot" of their cards die. I have had some great overclockers, but I always monitor my temps. If the temps get too high, I increase cooling or downclock it. If a lot of your video cards die I would ask what the hell are you doing to fry them.

One of my best "enthusiast" friends has had quite a few EVGA and other brand video cards. He's been doing this stuff a lot longer than me and has bought a lot more stuff than me, and he has yet to have a video card die, either. Out of the 23 builds I've made for family members and close friends, about 11 of them have had dedicated graphics cards in them. Stock and overclocked, not a single one of them has died yet.

That's why I said "what?" You made the statement "Video cards die a lot" - which makes no sense, especially when they are way more reliable and hardy than hard drives, optical drives, and power supplies. To make a statement like that is stupid. I'm not saying you're stupid, but that statement makes no sense, especially without clarification.

Well you got my clarification in my quote, I would not say video cards are reliable at all, but that is just my opinion and since I've had two just die on me within the month. Maybe it's just my bad luck. But I find that your comment is equally stupid, and hypocritical, you say that I have lack of clarification, at least I have more than your single word. Rofl, more reliable than optical drives? I find that kind of interesting, never heard of someone losing a DVD drive.

I meant clarification in your original post. I've lost two or three DVD drives to date, as well.

Say what you want but in a thread for a deal on a recertified video card for you to drop in and just say: "Video cards die a lot ... " is 100% not helpful any way you cut the cake. Remember, I am not saying you're stupid. Just that the original comment is in no way helpful to this thread. Your clarification came later.

i would never buy a refurbed video card... EVER.

especially considering BOTH NVIDIA AND ATI's quality control issues with their top end cards.
