I have been working for a week on getting the correct drivers for this T42. It keeps installing the generic drivers. Anyone out there have a t42 and the correct drivers loaded??
If so can you explain how to install the correct drivers :)
I have found many sites describing how to load the wireless drivers but can't find anything on video drivers.

I have tried the windows 7 built in drivers. ATI's web site does not have a download for the device it says "comes with windows vista" The laptop has a moble 9600 in the system so I tried both 9600 drivers that windows 7 has built in but neither works.

Were you using Vista on it before, is there a Vista package available from the ATI site? Or were you using whatever Vista installed by default

It had windows xp on it before I didn't have vista on this machine. ATI's site just said "Comes with vista" instead of a download link ::CRY::

*edit. nevermind, several posts popped up while I was typing this response.
I just did a quick google on that laptop. Looks like it came with the ATi Mobility Radeon 7500, the same that is in my laptop (Sony Vaio).
ATi/AMD does not support that anymore, and the only official drivers available are for XP. I've tried using them in windows 7 but they only lead to BSoDs. I ended up just using the default VGA drivers that Windows 7 chose during the install.

Maybe you could try the desktop Radeon 9600 driver for Vista (latest catalyst suite) and Mobility Modder
