I have been digging around an can't seem to find the right answer.
If I clone a 250g drive to 650g , How do I increase the size of the partition..I am using Acronis.

For XP and Vista

You need partition-management software to manipulate partitions.

There are multiple choices of both free and purchased partition managers - just google 'partition manager' and read up on the choices.

Since you have some version of Acronis installed, you'll want to pick an app that boots and runs from Linux or DOS cd or floppy. Don't attempt to install a partition manager co-resident with your Acronis app, since you will almost certainly have problems.

Personally, I use a Paragon suite that includes full image backup/restore and full partition-management functions (Paragon HD Manager 2009 Suite).

Hope this helps!

If you just need to extend the volume, it can be done from Computer Management --> Storage --> Disk Management

Wait if you are just trying to clone a 250 GB drive onto 650 GB drive Acronis should be able to do this fine in the clone process no need for another application.

It's been awhile but I use Seagate DiscWizard which is a watered down free version of Acronis, if you have at least one Seagate HDD, and it clones and extends the partition if you want it to in the same process.

I think extending the volume is what I want. I have never done that before, so what the hey..I will give it a shot. I just want to make the whole drive usable.
Just picked up another 650 AAKS, got to say they are fast and quiet...
