A client of mine lost all of her data on her external hard drive. It happened while she was away from the computer, and as far as I know, no one else touched her computer. I asked her if her computer were acting abnormally, like she had a virus or something, and she said, "No. It's acting fine."
She can access the drive, but it has nothing on it now.
Any ideas?

She, like all users is lying. Either she did something stupid and does not want to admit it, or she did something which in her eyes is not relevant to the situation but would solve the problem if she shared it with someone more technical.
Sorry bit jaded, I have had three different friends call me this week with computer issues, and of course "it just stopped working" and "they didn't make any changes".

I had a friend who had the same problem, it ended up being an ID10T error.
In all seriousness if you are really trying to find out what happened I would not take her word for anything and would check the drive out my self. It's the only proper way to do it.
With my friend, he was lying, as I found all the files in the recycle bin . Some people really have no clue.

LOL. Both of your stories are funny.
She actually just unplugged it and plugged it in again and now everything is fine. Any idea what happened? Is it on its way out? Was it a glitch? Might it not been plugged in to the computer all the way?
brainfade hehe. Is she a blond? :p

I couldn't agree more.

I used to use that on new troops who were just so lost it was comical. I'd ask them to find me the ID10T manual on (155) tank shocks (when I was in artillery of course).:D
