nas question

I'm new to esxi and I was looking at picking up a cheap nas box and was wondering if anyone knew if they worked with esxi at all.. I got a dell 2650 for esxi and so my box is maxed out at 5 74gb drive and am looking at some external drive hosts.. and thought an ethernet connected nas might be good..

Try OpenFiler with iSCSI to your ESXi box.

Openfiler fully supports vpd pages 80,83,86. It works quite well. None of the bsd targets support the right pages, so freenas and the like will be intermittant if even usable. Ms target works but sucks. Openfiler can even do software iscsi load balancing
