Alright, for the first time ever i had to install vista over the previous vista installation b/c a genious tech support guy suggested i delete my mbr when trying to recreate a raid array.
1) is there any issue with deleting the windows.old folder since it is massive?
2) since i reinstalled windows, i started a torrent. but for some reason the torrent is showing up in the downloads directory in the windows.old and also in the downloads folder in the users directory of the current windows. i set the torrent to download to the current windows users directory. any ideas?

Assuming there isn't anything in the windows.old folder you need to save, it should be okay to delete. As for the torrents, I wouldn't ever let a torrent file or program point to my system volume. Use a data drive, and store your torrent files there. You also can avoid all the permissions crap that comes with using the built-in "my" folders.

well, where i save my torrent aside, why would the torrent also be in the windows.old folder when i didnt add the torrent until after i installed the new os?
Here is a screen shot of the breakdown of the c drive:

ok, forget about the explanation about what i had to do. my question is about the torrent file being located in the windows.old directory as well as in the users directory (which is where i told it to download).

When you delete the windows.old directory, this won't be an issue anymore. Stop focusing on fixing stuff and move on... :) Some items in that directory - as long as it remains - will still be used because it's there for the primary reason that you might wish to rollback the system to the previous OS. Sounds like it's functioning perfectly normal to me...
