Okay, so my friend called me, saying his girlfriend is recieving a blue screen error at start-up on her Dell XP computer after installing windows updates. They were'nt able to tell me what update/s were installed, but the error message they recieve is 0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0xf79dd8e3, 0xf79dd7f0, 0xf79dd4ec). I'm going to call them back when I get a chance to see about more specifics of hardware. Can anyone please tell me what we can to about this?

1. Search Microsoft Knowledge Base for the error codes.

2. Use system restore out of safe mode.

3. /thread

Well from what they've told me they can't get into safe mode. How do I install the drivers from outside of the operating system?

you gotta put in your vista DVD or XP CD in (depending upon OS) and boot from that and then when it asks you to repair do it and then pick a restore point before you did the last update

I thought I should be able to do that, I'll probably have to get them my old xp disc though, anyway we'll see how it goes, thanks.
