I was browsing the Air cooling guide, but it now seems woefully out of date. What's the best cooler for a highly overclocked Opteron 165 right now? I have an older cooler that keeps it at about 60-62 degrees at 100% load, 2.8GHz overclock and stock volts, but I'd like to push it to 3.0 while keeping those or lower temps.

for 939 id recommend the big typhoon 754/939.. theres 2 versions one for the older sockets and one for lga-775 and am2.. its huge though.. had it on my sempron 3100+ at 2.7ghz(1.4v) at around 45C full load..

i have both the big typhoon VX and standard one.. the standard one should do perfectly fine with a 939 socket.. the heatsink its self is unchanged from the VX version all they did was change the fan so if the temps arent low enough for you the fans pretty easy to change.. i have noctua 1300rpm vortex fan on my big typhoon VX on my athlon x2 6400+.. there are a few others heatsinks out there but id say thats the best cooling for under 50 dollars if your going to do some nice overclocking..

+1 for big typhoon

i had it on my current 3800x2 @ 3.0ghz and it cooled the baby very nicely, Hell the cooler was even bent a bit. It kept my 3800x2 34C idle and 59C load, keep in mind thats 3.0ghz @ 1.6v on a manchester O.o. I recently switched to a tuniq for looks and im very disappointed. Im going cooler master v8 soon, expensive little bugger but works from what reviews say.

because its overkill, lol :P not to mention with the big typhoon it will also keep your memory and if your north bridge heatsink is close enough it will also keep that cool.. was one of the bigger reasons i bought it for my socket 754..
