The setup:
2 x 73 gb fujitsu 15k RPM SAS
LSI SAS3442E-R 8-PORT PCI-e SAS RAID CONTROLLER
bench is under Vista 64bit
Still need to update the bios/firmware on the card to see if things might improve a bit. A little disappointed in the access times but overall pleased.

Total cost the setup was ~$410

Take it this is a RAID 0 by the size - that's fast for 2 drives though, any plans to add more?

sorry...left that out but yeah it's just the 2 drives in a Raid 0....I might add a couple more in a bit but for now i'm pleased

how do you like that Auzentech X-plosion card? was thinking about getting a new card for my HTPC

I love it, but to be honest this is my first sound card so I don't have much to compare it to haha but the price was right and it had the features that I needed - notably a pinout that I could use to pass digital audio through my (old) HDMI equipped video card when I was using it for HTPC use.

What made you get this HDD setup? Any particular use or a good deal or what?

I like to have an all around fast feel to my system and hard drives usually drag down any benefits from multi core cpu's. And I got the LSI card for $79 and both drives for $300 which makes it a pretty good deal overall.
