HDMI question

How much of a difference would there be if I used a DVI cable instead of a VGA cable? Currently I am using a DVI->VGA converter.

I'd say there's an improvement. It's not really night and day but it's there. It probably depends on the card and monitor though.

Another benefit, on Nvidia video cards at least, is that using DVI allows you to use the card to scale lower resolutions. This is great if your monitor doesn't do aspect scaling or 1:1 pixel mapping. I have heard that input lag is also lower when using video card scaling. Plus, DVI allows the display of special content like BD movies, if HDCP is supported.

As Drexl has said, it depends on the card and monitor, but generally sharpness is the biggest benefit, and color accuracy seems to improve as well. Not always but fairly often.

If you notice pixel crawl, interference patterns or loss of sharpness, bland colours on VGA, DVI will remove that.
If you dont experience any of the above, its unlikely you will see a visual benefit moving to DVI.
I've used VGA at 1080p on an HDTV and it looked fantastic.
Your mileage can vary a lot.

The vid card is an ATI 4850 and the LCD is a LG2252. Everything has looked good so far and the LCD works great for gaming so I was just wondering if I would notice any improvement but that has already been answered.

I didn't notice a thing going from VGA signal to DVI on my V2400W.
