I bought my computer used and it came with Windows vista. However i don't think the previous person did a new install of vista cuz when i look through all my folders and look at hard drive usage, I'm missing 60 GB. Is there a way to clear out all the non essential programs besides windows vista? I don't have the installation CD and i don't want to install XP becuase the vista is genuine . Please help! Thanks

Check out windirstat (find it on the web), a program that breaks down disk space usage by files, so you can see who is using what. Another thing, if you must, is reduce Volume Shadow Storage, using the vssadmin command in cmd.exe. The command to set it to 15GB would be:

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=c: /for=c: /maxsize=15GB

System restore. Turn it off (unless you want it...) to gain back that disc space. It was taking up 80GB before I disabled it.
