I have 56 running atm using 1.2Gb out of 4gb while idle.

Does this seem average? I haven't installed a lot, just basics.

Winrar, avast, spybot, adaware, sound drivers, video drivers, etc etc.

Last time I looked I had around 80 loaded with about the same ram usage.

65 processes running but I got a 384MB VM running and 3 instances of Packet Tracer running using about 2.84GB of RAM. Your utilization sounds normal.

^_^

I'm guessing it's vista then. I have nothing out of the ordinary running in processes or tasks.

Have only disabled 2 after following a guide about them.

Lots of processes are not necessarily a bad thing, if they're not using much memory and are mostly idle; active processes are the problem. I have a few programs running at the moment and have 80 processes, but most aren't doing a whole lot.

Yay, another Vista thread about memory! It's been a while!

In all seriousness, as long as none of those processes are malware, you are fine. Vista will use more memory than XP, but it is being used effectively for caching.

Thank you for all of the replies.

I kind of figured if it was using this much memory it was for a good reason.

Even running WOW it's only using 45-50% memory. Which is good I guess?
