what OS?

I acquired a dual 600MHz PIII server with 1GB of RAM, 18GB SCSI HDD and am trying to determine what would be the best OS for it.

I plan on using it to get more familiar with Linux, what rare some good distros for someone with VERY minimal linux experience. I've tried installing Ubuntu on it but it fails every time

nevermind, I thinnk it has a bad HDD

Ubuntu is good as long as you stay in the user interface and have no problems. It's not the easiest one to work with when you're troubleshooting or using the console. IMO Fedora is easier to work with on this point.
