I decided to take WHS (Windows Home Server) for a spin, so I ordered an eval copy and installed it on an old box. Everything went well and works as advertised except for some strange issues. 3 computers are set up to run through it: My desktop (Vista x64), my mom's laptop (Vista 32-bit), and my dad's laptop (XP Pro).
1 - A majority of the time, when I go to manually access the server through the network button on the start menu I can't see the server. I have to fiddle with it in order to get it to show up.
2 - When the server actually shows up and I can click on it, it almost always tells me that I have been locked out. I then have to go thorugh the HS console, delete my account, and recreate it in order to be able to log into the server. This happens for both my mom's account and mine.
3 - This one is related to issue 2. I have a printer hooked up to the server that everyone can print through. It works, but in order to print you have to go to the networking menu and log in to the server. Because of issue 2, almost everytime I want to print I have to delete my account and recreate it. The same thing goes for my mom's account.
The above issues affect all 3 computers which obviously means that there is an issue server side. Please help. These issues are driving me nuts. If you need me to clarify something LMK.
