I don't know what happened to it, but every now and then I'll get a bunch of error "red x" boxes saying WSOCK32.DLL is missing. Happens when I try to load Farcry 2 or Windows Media Player.

Any ideas? I don't have an anti-virus at the moment and I don't visit bogus sites / open shady emails or anything like that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

wsock32.dll should be found in your C:\Windows\System32 folder. Look in there and see if it really is missing. If it is missing, hit up Google and try to find somewhere to download it from.

Or better yet stick in your Windows CD/DVD and run "sfc /scannow" and it'll replace your missing Windows system files: and from a source you could trust.

QFT, downloading windows components and such from the wild is plain suicide IMHO

This is weird.. I checked in the system32 folder, and it's there. Is it corrupted?

Could be.
"sfc /scannow" also replaces corrupted files ;)

Well it seems Xfire was causing the problem- I turned it off and I didn't get the error, but thank you for the help guys.
