First, my experience with the monitor (For a awesome technical review checkout snowdog's post)
I absolutely love this thing. It is substantially nicer than the 24" imacs they have at my school. The mild anti-glare coating is not sparkly or blurry, but provides for a reflection/glare free experience. As a photographer this makes a HUGE difference to me.
The gradients (especially dark gradients) are smoother on this monitor than anything else I have seen.
The uniformity (color comp set to 3 of 5) and colors are dead on at least to my perception.
The viewing angles are better than anything I have ever seen.
I work pretty close the screen (2-3 ft) and have no problems with screen door effect.
I don't notice any lag playing games.
I don't notice and ghosting or movement artifacts.
The calibration with the SV package was helpful and very very easy.
The screen is a "touch" bright, but still usable in a dark room @ 140 cd
No dead pixels and some mild backlight bleed that I can not see without trying REAL hard. It is not noticeable in any real life usage.
This is all and all by far the best monitor I have ever seen. It makes my mbp screen look like total trash (as it should for 1250)
Now for my buying experince:
I originally ordered from Provantage... and then sat around waiting..... and waiting. I hear of some people waiting for months for 2490/2690 sv packages from them. Fortunately Someone recommended Monitor Outlet. They were out of stock on their website so I gave them a call. A guy named Jared promised to call me back when thye got one in stock and said it should be by the end of the week. I got a call 2 days later and I placed my order right after canceling with Provantage (who took forever to confirm the cancellation....). The monitor arrived 3 (business) days later with normal (and free) ground shipping. The box was not heavily damaged like some pictures I have seen from new egg orders. The monitor is as flawless as LCDs get.
The only thing that was a problem was since i ordered over the phone, I was not able to track my order very easily.
