Hi guys, Im looking for a card something like this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816103058 I just want to add some sata drives to an existing system with a free pcie slot. I dont even care if it does any sort of raid, etc. I had one in an older system that I bought for about $40 brand new but it was a no name company and it didnt last very long, so I figured this time around I would go with a more reputable manufacturer. My budget is around $100 or so for the card itself. Im willing to go a little higher, but would rather avoid a a $450 card altogether. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Edit : I will be using XP Pro Sp 3 or WHS. Pro more than likely. Not sure if that matters or not, but better to be informed.

I can't speak to that specific card, but I will say that I think very highly of adaptec controllers. Their support after the sale is great, and I've never had an adaptec card fail on me (and I've bought close to a dozen over the years - running 3 right now and just bought a new 31605 SAS).

Umm yea WHS works with RAID cards....you can even use RAID in WHS, its not supported but it can be done.

Also I Like adaptec but im not a huge fan of the older generation cards like that one.

If you have a free PCI or PCI-x slot I would get a Supermicro AOC SAT2-mv8 they are $94 on newegg and give you 8 ports...no raid but you get 8 ports and it will work in PCI and PCI-X they dont have a pci-e version but since its not RAID there is no real need for it to be on a PCI-e slot.
