Is there anything I can do to get this thing to power up? I have a few similar drives that I can swap parts with it to try and get the data off of it. Is this possible?
It's a Samsung 750gb spinpoint if that matters.
Any thoughts on how to get it to power up to get the data off of it...
I am desperate, so IF I can't get anything here I might have to pay the $500 to a data recovery place to see if they can get the data off of it.
Any thoughts at all?
Thanks

I actually did have backups, but they failed too.
How do I exactly swap out the PCB?

Just unscrew it from the drive and disconnect the connection and put the "new one" on

Depending on the damage or failure, $500 may be way too little to cover the recovery costs.
I'd try swapping PCB's, if that fail, just take it as a loss I guess.

Not to sounds dumb (yeah I know)
the PCB is the part that the sata power and connector are on right? The actual circuit board so to speak that is visible on the outside of the drive?

Yep. Just remove the screws and it will plug right out.

Thanks... did that and now it powers up, but it's not seen in the BIOS. I suspect it's just a bad drive and all my data is lost.
Any other suggestions? Is there anything I might be able to do now that it powers up but it's not recognized in the BIOS?
