I've been playing with Cobian 9 for the past few hours. It seems for small backups (say folder of 7GB, with 100 files) - it's as fast as a straight copy/paste from explorer.
OTOH, for a larger folder like 75GB with 1,000 files, it was significantly slower. I measured the difference at >10MB/s lost, going with Cobian over the straight copy. E.g. direct copy ~55MB/s write, Cobian measured ~41MB/s. Reading online, it seems I'm not alone in seeing this behavior. Many are saying to just go back to Cobian 8, but that doesn't solve anything considering that 9 is the newest version of the software.
Any alternatives that are faster? I'm not really trying to pay, especially if it won't be faster than a direct copy.
