Over that past few weeks my computer will just come to a halt. Even if it is just sitting there while i am at school, i will come home and the computer is completly frozen/the mouse will move but nothing else responds. This has increased in frequencey. Also over the past few weeks, when i boot up, it takes about 3 trys to actually get it to boot all the way to windows. Now my computer wont fully boot no matter how many tries i make. I can still get to the bios but once it tries to go to the OS thats where it stops. Could this be the death of my harddrive. If not any other suggestions?

Could be. Are all your fans spinning? How's your Video Card? memory? Power Supply?

I would start with the video card, try and boot into safe mode and see if you can do that, lets start from there.

Also, what make is your hard drive, there are some tools that you can run courtesy of your hard drive makers that will test your harddrive for any issues.

I have tried to boot in safe mode, unfortunatly the same thing happens, it gets to a certain point and just stops. I dont know for sure but i think the hard drive is a seagate, i could be wrong.

Do you know how to get into the BIOS settings for your computer. Usually you can see the model number of your hard drives. If not you will need to read the actual model number off of the drive.

Go to the manufacturers web site and look around the support section. Almost all have a diagnostic program that you can DL. Get the dos version that boots from a CD. Run the diagnostics and let us know what it says.

Check load temperatures.
Your CPU, motherboard and graphics card heatsinks/fans may need a clean.

I would try another power supply, you'd be surprised what dying PSU's can do to a system

Thanks for all of your suggestions, turns out it was a ram issue
