View Full Version : Cant open control panel in Vista Ultimate?

I usually can open the control panel but then sometimes when i want to open the control panel it opens for about half a second and closes and you dont even see the control panel screen its like a windows open the closes. And the only way to fix it is for me to restart my computer. Has anyone had this happen to them or know how to fix it? Im using Vista Ultimate x64.

Do you have SP1 installed? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/936686/en-us

You can also try to Restart the Software Licensing service. Click on start, search for "services" find software licensing service in the list and restart it, or start it back up.

nah i dont have sp1 installed. Does sp1 improve performance at all on vista ultimate x64? Or has it been known to decrease it? I havent really followed up that much on vista as I have always used xp.

Actually SP1 would speed up many aspect of Vista, more importantly the copying lag pre-SP1 suffered from. Give SP1 a try, but back up your stuff first as with all Service Packs.
