64bit?

If i buy vista 64bit version does that mean programs that are coded in 32bit wont work with 64bit?:confused:

yeah now that i know that i really wish i had gotten 64 bit because 32 bit is really holding me back will probably upgrade next summer if windows 7 or whatever its called now isnt really close to coming out (aka next winter)

thats really annoying cause if it were say jan 2010 i would do it but other wise i think that the upgrade would be kind of useful.

I am being serious. Using the trial version installer for Premiere Pro CS3, it simply doesn't want to go past initializing the setup. It just disappears.

I guess I should probably try a restart :p

If you bought the retail version, you can order the 64-bit media from MS for $10.

Retail version comes with both 64 and 32bit doesn't it, its just the OEMs that only have one or the other.

I am running 64bit and have almost no issues, and the issues I have had were all easily fixed.

32bit programs are installed to a differant place then 64bit. they go into c:\program files (x86)\ where as 64bit goes into c:\program files\
I had wondered at first how patched would handle the fact the 32bit programs were in a differant folder from default, but every single one has updated fine.

Its actually the CPU that allows both 64bit and 32bit apps to run together. its just that the 64bit programs are coded to take advantage of the additional bits.

I believe that it is now pretty safe to go to 64bit. as most hardware vendors offer 64bit drivers. You will have to have a fairly recent computer, as it does require faster hardware to run it properly. Memory also helps alot.

Only Ultimate come with both. Everything else just comes with 32bit and a slip telling the customer how to get 64bit if they need it.
