View Full Version : Pulled the trigger on a Corsair HX1000.....

Hey guys. I'm looking at probably picking up a 4870X2 in the next few weeks (I say probably because these driver issues that I'm hearing about are starting to get a little unnerving) and I figured it was time to upgrade my PSU. I currently have a Silverstone ST56ZF that has served me beautifully for a couple years, but at 560 watts and 38 amps on the 12V rail, I thought it would be cutting it a little close with some of these new power hungry cards. Also, I'm been wanting a modular PSU for some time now and I'd figured I'd kill two birds with one stone. Anyone I just bought a Corsair HX1000 online for $225 shipped because it seemed like a good deal. Is this a good purchase for current new cards as well as future proofing or should I cancel my order and look elsewhere? Thanks for any input.
I was looking at the same power supply. Best deal I could find was ~225 after rebate at Amazon. Free shipping, no tax for most.
And yes, Corsair power supplies are solid.

That's a good price for one of the best power supplies you can buy. It should last you a good couple of years considering you'll probably only be around 40% load with an X2.

Any problems at all - let me know and I'll help you out with it. That's a pretty good price, I looked around for about 15-20 minutes earlier and that's better than I found.

I didn't know there was a Corsair rep on here. That's pretty cool. Yeah, I ordered the PSU brand new from a vendor on ebay. It came out cheaper because of the 10% off coupon ebay has for the month of August. I normally buy off newegg or another reputable site, but with taxes and shipping it was over $50 bucks more. Hopefully I won't regret that. Does Corsair offer a maufacturer's warranty, regardless of where you purchased the unit from? Thanks.

Some are solid. not all. the same goes for other high end PSU.

Don't mean to argue, but which of our PSUs would you classify as "not solid", and how would you improve them?

5 year Manufacturer's warranty. If anybody ever gives you any crap for buying it new off an eBay vendor, PM me on here and I'll go knock some heads around (figuratively).

I just got my HX last week and it works fantastically. I upgraded from a single 620HX, very impressed and it has performed flawlessly with my current system

I know you don't discuss future products - but any plans to fill gap between HX620 and HX1000 with other modular PSU, like HX750 or something like that ? :D

Erm, I am yet to see anywhere in any of the [H] reviews that states that any of the Corsair power supplies aren't solid. Mind you, I do think it is time that some of the power supplies were updated, as there are a few power supplies that are starting to surpass them. Merely to put Corsair back on top really, really firmly.

The HX1000 got gold on [H], or did you mean another PSU they manufacture?

I bought one too. Is anyone running one in a Antec P182 Case? I would like to see how it fits and if I need to remove the little fan at the bottom.

"thinking about RMAing"?? Why don't you try going through the proper normal support channels via their website? Would be a good place to start if you decide you want your memory replaced.

you would be correct. im just saying make an good choice on comparisons and this is not brand related. i was just prooving another member was making a false statement that all corsair were solid. there is always gonna be some duds in all brands.
Menelmarar how does that make me a troll? i didn't say "OMG U GOTTA GET BRAND X OVER Y!"

Depends what people call solid. Will that one PSU with silver award fail ? Nope, it's just more noisy than other Corsairs. It doesn't say it is noisy as hell - just a bit more noisy than other Corsairs. Other brands can be more noisy and still get gold - because you are not expecting so much from them as from a Corsair.
