now i've just recovered some hardware from the depths of my drawers and come up with an 80GB(os) / 1.01TB(jbod) backup server... now i thought about using raid (i use raid5 and raid10 in my main rig) but i figured as this is already redundant data, it doesn't need any more redundancy.. and being a switch on once a week or as needed server/nas it certaintly doesn't need to worry about silly little things like uptime :)
should i leave it jbod or return it to 200, 200(sata), 320, 200, 200, 80(ide) as individual disks?
also thinking about putting in 2x1tb drives in a separate jbod on this same machine..so i can backup all my data rather than the most important parts.. thinking of using jbod again, but if there are advantages to using raid-0 in a 10/100 (soon to be Gb) lan.. its a silicon image raid-0 card i'll be digging up and using anyways...
