I just bought a WD 'My Book' external HDD. It's the terabyte model with a USB connection and my intent was to use it to store DVDs on it so I don't need to have disks around. I ripped some DVDs to my desktop using DVD Decryptor into .VOB files of about 4 gb's in size each. I have plenty of space on the ext. hard drive, but when I try to copy the files over to the drive it gives me an error saying there is not enough free space left and to use disk cleanup. Is there any solution to this mess other than re-ripping and converting/compressing the DVDs into smaller files?

Did u reformat the my book to NTFS? Usually by default most of the external HD are FAT for compatability with mac. As a single file larger than 4GB it would freak out and error msg you.

I agree, the external must be formatted in FAT32, you can reformat it to NTFS without losing any data already on it through going in "cmd" and typing "CONVERT X: /FS:NTFS" where "X" is the drive letter.
