Gentlemen I would greatly appreciate some help and suggestions

I have IBM C:\ is SCSI hd 18GB with OS Win XP Pro SP3

I added IDE HD and finally got everything set up right in Bios BUT started having problems with CD / DVD RW drive.
Could not read or wrie CD BUT play and read DV fine. I had new CD RW so I changed cdrom drive worked OK but started having problem would not read or write CD. I have IDE hd & CD rom on same ide cable. I can disconect ide hd and cd runs ok after making changes in Bios.

So I am going take out SCSI card and drive and go with IDE HD

Now come my question. Would I be able to transfer OS Programs and setting – drivers from SCSI hd to IDE hd and then Boot from CD with Win XP and get prompt repair OS.

I have programs running good on SCSI hd and I have few things on 2nd IDE hd that I would like keep also.

I know XP has program for maybe doing this but I have never looked for it or know how it may work for what I am wanting do. By the way I am trying get this computer set up so I can give to my brother’s wife.

I am through with this small SCSI hd which did OK till added IDE hd and it has been off & on hell ever since.
Thought I would try going with IDE hd before giving up

Any and all suggestions APPRECIATED

Harold

I wrote the above very late in last night like 2AM this morning

Let me compress above?

your thoughts on Clone SCSI system drive to a IDE drive. System drive c:\ has OS and several programs and settings I would very much like have on IDE drive.

I am going format IDE and install same operating OS then how could I get programs and settings from SCSI to IDE drive

If person clone say SCSI 20GB to IDE 80GB drive will this more - less turn IDE 80GB drive into OR show as 20GB

Will SCSI settings be conflict with IDE drive?
