I recently borrowed a laptop from a friend that had Vista on it. He did not like it and asked me to replace it with anything and get it up and working again. I chose Ubuntu 7.10 and have been going through some general peripheral setup stuff, but for some reason I can't get the wireless to work. His laptop is an Acer Aspire 5050. I've installed any WLAN drivers I could find from the Acer website using ndiswrapper. After doing so it still doesn't even show that the laptop has wireless built in. I'm not great with Linux and only used it sparingly in the past. I'm kind of using this as training to learn more about Linux. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Well, the latest version of Ubuntu is now 8.04 Hardy Heron, which may itself fix the problem. Otherwise, could you please post the terminal output of lspci so we can figure out exactly what wireless card you have?
