Here is my system
XFX 790i Ultra
XFX 8800GS video
4 gb Corsair 1333 memory
Intel Q9450 processor
Floppy
Sata DVD writer
WD 250 gb IDE hard disk with XP Pro

I have a couple of questions. I want to add a second hard diak with Vista Ultimate. I don't want to dual boot. From what I've read, I should just connect the new HD and install Vista. Then hook up both hard disks and use the HD Priority in the bios to decide which system to boot from. Is this correct?

The second question is whether to get another IDE HD or a SataII HD. I'm thinking SataII. Is there anything I need to do besides plug in the Sata HD to get going. That's all I had to do to get The Sata DVD writer going. Bios recognized it on Sata 2 channel.

By switching boot options in bios I don't have to deal with the boot manager should I want to change operating systems at a later date.

Get a SATAII drive for sure, and yes you should be able to just hook it up and go.
That should work, my question is what do you have against dual-boot?

Nothing particular against dual boot. I just read where if you did it the other way and wanted to undo it later, you wouldn't have to use BCedit to undo the vista boot file. If I just decide to dual boot, would the IDE and The Sata work just like 2 IDE disks? This is my first time with Sata.

I cant say for sure becuase I never tried it. however I cant think of anything that would prevent it from working properly.
