Currently running (raid 5) 4x 500gb with 780i evga motherboard.
Trying to install my rocketraid 1640 to build another (raid 5) 4x 1tb
I can see all of the hard drives that come off of the raid card. But the problem is I do not get the card bios screen for the rocketraid card during startup to create the raid 5. When my boards raid screen pops up it will then show an error for a brief second. (Not sure what it says). My boards raid 5 works perfectly fine.
Anyone else have an issue like this when using 2x raid systems on the same pc, I read a few other forums where people had this similar issue and no one really had the correct answer. If you need any aditional information let me know.

It would be best if you provided complete system specifications. Its' quite possible you've got so many devices that the BIOS for the RocketRAID won't load because there isn't space in the option ROM for it. I had this problem with my Tyan K8WE (S2895) and my LSI MegaRAID U320-2. I also had the same problem again in my current system thanks to the poor 9800GX2 BIOS/Firmware setup which loads four options ROMs instead of two.

Processor q6600 quad core
780i evga motherboard
4x 1gig corsair memory
9600gt oc evga video card
74 gig raptor
4x wd 500gb hard drives
4x wd 1tb hard drives
bluray/hd dvd drive
rocketraid 1640
I think thats it, what do you suggest I try? Not sure what you mean by space in the option ROM. If i turn off my drives from onboard raid 5 the card bios will startup fine.

And can you create an array on the Rocket RAID if you turn off the onboard RAID/drives?
Essentially the option ROMs are loaded into option ROM space reserved on the motherboard. There is a finite amount of option ROM space and once it is exceeded no more of them can be loaded. Optiom ROMs are how the motherboard BIOS works with and communicates with certain devices on a lower hardware level.
Here is a basic lesson on "Option ROMs." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Option_ROM)

I'm going to try and stop the onboard raid drives and setup raid on my rocketraid and then turn the onboard ones back on and see if it will start up both then. Not sure if it will or not.
