I'm having an issue slaving a SATA drive on my machine to recover data off of a drive. The computer I'm working on is running 2K pro, and is BSOD on boot. So I thought I could pop the drive into my workstation on SATA and it would show up as a second drive like with IDE, but nothing came up.... It didn't show up at all.... Could the drive be that bad?

For starter make sure the SATA port is enabled in the bios
sometimes on XP you need to go to disk manager and bring the disk online

Yes, I have found this to be an issue too, also with Server 2008.
It's located in: Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Disk Management

If your disk detects but you can't read anything from it, I would suggest using GetDataBack NTFS/FAT (http://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm)
