I know this may sound dumb, but I just have to ask.

I have newer pc that has got a 750 gb SATA II hard drive in it. I am thinking of taking my 2 older 36 gb raptors, which are SATA I and making them into a Raid 0. Would the 2 raptor's in Raid 0 be faster than the single SATA II hd? I believe SATA I transfers like 150 gb/s and the SATA II does 300 gb/s. So, just curious if there would be much of a difference and if so how much?

Thanks!

they would be faster in seek time, but large file reads the 750 would win.

SATA and SATA II have zero performance diff.

no harddrive can do ANYWHERE near 1.5G let alone 3G that is just what SATA ports are capable of, but will never get surpassed by current storage media.

Thanks! Just trying to see if it is worth the hassle to transfer everything over to the Raid 0 or not.

dont trust the raid 0 with anything really important.. keep it on your 750.

i have a2 80G 7200.10 in raid 0 on Intel ICH9R chip and i hit 140MB average.

Basically all I ever put on my C: partition is my OS and installed programs. All data I usually offload onto another hd and I frequently image my OS partition as well.

then should work good.
