I'm looking for a good HD that will give me great performance for gaming, looking to spend between $150-$200.

I don't really care about space, because on my current HD I only have about 40Gigs used, all of my mp3, pics, etc go onto my spare HD.

I just want to use the main HD for OS, programs and games.

I was thinking for maybe getting those raptos 10Krpm, are those my best bet for speed performance?

640gb WD gives you best bang for buck right now.
raptors are great, velociraptors are awesome, but the diff for loading games is only a couple of seconds.

For that price range you cant beat WD6400AAKS, they go for about 99 on newegg.

Is this ...ahh what do you call it dynamic pricing (if I am using the word correctly)? I mean, are these prices continuously updated?

WD6400AAKS. I have heard and seen (benchmark pictures) that these are very good HDs. You could always get a 150GB Raptor but like someone said, the difference is minuscule.

WD640 is amazing. I just got one, and my loading times for everything have gone down (vs. older 240GB WD SATA drive)

I've never had a raptor, so I cant comment on a comparison there - but from what I gather, it's nearly the same performance with a MUCH better $/GB ratio

One of best $/gb ratio available = $0.14/GB @ $95

VelociRaptor if not a regular Raptor

Did you even read the OP?

His budget is 150-200, Vraptor is $300
Just cause you like the VR doesnt mean that its the best solution for every person.

I then SAID ANY OTHER RAPTOR!!!

The x can be found for 140 and is 150GB. No 7200 can match the speed.

The WD6400AAKS are almost as fast the Vraptors and faster than the RaptorX.
