View Full Version : Icon size questions
I downloaded a bunch of Vista icons to customize my desktop. They're all .ico file. now I go and change the icon in the properties of the shortcut. Now I CTRL+scroll to increas, but the new icons don't increase in size. What's up?
Is there a way to increase this manually like in xp set icon size from 32x32 to 128x128. ?
Thanks.
here's my problem in picture form.

Notice the Vista stock icons grow huge, but the custom icons do not.. :(

I think the problem is just that the Vista icons come with large versions, whereas other icons don't have them; they're all stored as bitmaps.
You can change icon size in the "Window Color and Appearance" control panel, by clicking "Open classic appearance properties" and going to Advanced.

I think you need to download .png icons instead of .ico for that functionality. Most icon websites let you choose which format to download.

What the heck are you talking about? Do you even use Vista? Vista only accept ico. You'll need an alternative software if you want PNG.
Seems to me you downloaded a 32x32 version of the icon. You need a 128 or a 256.

You might want to actually know what you're talking about before you go off on someone. PNGs are the default icon format in Vista. Just do a search for .png on your C: drive and you'll see all of the default Vista icons.
