I'm not sure if this is the right spot, but we're postive it's not network related. We have this setup at work. We have a vpn tunnel to one of our clients who then has a vpn tunnel that connects to another network. some of our employees use to this to access what we'll call Site B in internet explorer (or firefox doesn't matter, but they only use IE).
the problem is this doesn't work on all machines. What'll happen is you'll attempt to access the site and it'll just hang. It's supposed to load some java thing but it'll just sit there and never load or error out. there's another part of the same site, higher in the links that is just text and two gif images that will not load the images. so we know it's not java related. We've ruled out network issues because if you take an image of a working machine - lets say a gx620 and ghost it to another non-working gx620 it works. However, we attempted to sysprep a working gx620 so we could try the image on a opti755 and after it was sysprep'd the gx620 no longer connected to the site. We can't figure out why.
We've tested it on latitudes ranging from d600s to d630s and it works on all except one d630. we tested it on gx620s, opti745 and opti755. It has only worked randomly on gx620s and 745s. It does not work at all on the 755's.
we've done everything we could possibly think of. I even copied the registry files - default, software, sam, security, system (though copying system caused the keyboards to no longer be detected) from a working machine to a non-working machine using the recovery console and that had no effect.
the thing to keep in mind is the systems are all basically the same per model. like the gx620s were all purchased in bulk using the same template. so hardware should be the same on relatively all of them. same with the 745s and 755s. With the 755s we loaded up a clean install of xp and it wouldn't connect to the site.
so if anyone has any idea what it could possible be. we're up to suggestions. Thanks for your time.
