random led flashing

My hdd led is flashing for no reason, been like this since tuesday, im not doing anything just idle on the desktop and the led just keeps flashing. After a defrag it stops for a while then starts again. When I reboot i doesnt do it and in linux its fine. Does it mean the drive is going dead?

Windows can do random housekeeping stuff at odd times for now reason. It is not a reason for concern unless it has recently started doing it a lot more than in the past. In that case you may be infected by some form of malware.
