Hey Guys,

I had 1 gig of memory and then upgraded to 3 gigs. When I did this windows xp home only recognized 2 of the 3 gigs. How can I unlock windows xp home to allow it to utilize all 3 gigs?

Thanks,

well, the problem isn't with XP Home. 3 gigs should be detected just fine in Windows. make sure the RAM isn't faulty, or your motherboard likes the new RAM. See how much RAM the computer reports during the boot up screen, or just go into the BIOS and and take a look. In either case, if you're seeing less than 3GB, then its definitely a hardware problem.

how are the 3Gigs allocated? If you're using 3 1GB sticks, it could be you have a dual channel motherboard that recognizes only matched pairs of RAM.

I currently have two 512mb sticks and two 1 gig sticks.
Bios says "Total Memory 2098176k"
Cpuz says I have 3072 mb (3 gigs)
I do have a dual channel motherboard, yes there are in corresponding dimms.

Try resetting your CMOS, and/or checking for a BIOS update.

Thank you, resetting the CMOS worked :)
