I took out the Perc 2 DC RAID controller card from my poweredge and I stripped out my drives as well (2 Seagate U160 ST318404LC 10K RPM SCA Drives) and popped them into my old P3 computer in RAID 0 for a small speed boost. Now the problem is these are U160 Drives, and the PERC card can do 80MB/s, but no matter what I do, taking other PCI cards out, moving the card around, turning on Write-through or Write-cache, I still can't get it past SCSI-2 speeds (about 40 MB/s using HDTach). I'm at wits end I don't know what else to do. Anyone have experience with this? I'm using XP pro for testing first, until I can get the max performance out of this aging card.
EDIT: Would it be worth it to buy a newer SCSI card for these drives? Something like a PERC 3 possibly? Any suggestions?
