If your MacBook uses DDR2-677 memory then yes that Crucial RAM will work in it fine.

No. Most any brand DDR2 of the correct speed will work in a current MacBook. I would stick to quality brands like Crucial and OCZ though. I'm running 4 gigs of OCZ DDR2-800 in my MacBook Pro.

Ram and hard drives are the things where Mac never was proprietary. They always used standard parts, just had to chose the right specs.
