View Full Version : Question on wether to reinstall or not

I'm RMAing my 680i and wondering if I should reinstall windows with the new board or should it be fine. I know when changing make and models I should but this is the same model. I have a drive to dump stuff on so it'll be no problem to do it just want to know if its neccesary.

XP should be okay, since the chipset drivers and everything else will be identical. However, back up everything anyway, just in case for some odd reason it doesn't work.

(Heck - with Vista, I've even changed motherboards/chipsets completely without reinstalling, and had no issues whatsoever, other than having to reactivate)

Thanks, I was thinking it would be fine.

Just one more question, will my dual boot be fine?

It should, since the bootloader is on the drive, not in BIOS or anything like that. (If you plug the drives in differently than they were, you might have to use the Vista DVD to repair the bootloader, but that's the only likely thing that comes to mind.)
